Families are the foundation for our culture, community, and city.  As goes the family, so goes the community.  Many times more than not, the root causes in the issues of poverty, homelessness, abuse, and neglect stem from brokenness within families.

3 Primary Areas of Focus

1. Preparation for the Next Generation of Parents & Spouses
-  equipping students on the biblical roles and responsibilities of 
    husbands / fathers and wives / mothers.
-  preparing students for selecting a spouse
-  caring for and equipping teenage mom's and dad's

2. Equipping Two Parent Families
a. Building loving, Christ-honoring marriages
    -  mentoring connections between newly weds and mature married couples
    -  providing topical training in issues that relate to marriage 
        (i.e. roles, communication, conflict resolution, etc)
b. Building loving, Christ-honoring families
    -  mentoring connections between new parents and seasoned parents
    -  providing topical training in issues that relate to parenting
        (i.e. raising boys, raising girls, guidelines for discipline, etc)

3. Equipping One Parent Families 
   -  building loving, Christ-honoring single parent families 
   -  providing support, mentoring and caring for single parents 
   -  providing mentors for the children of single parent families

Statistics
The Georgia Family Council has discovered that a person's chances of ever living in poverty can be dramatically reduced from 80% to 7% if these 3 things take place in a person's life:

1.  Graduation from High School
2.  Get married after the age of 20 years old.
3.  Have their first child after getting married.

If we as churches would be proactive towards investing in the youth of our communities to help them accomplish even just the above 3 factors, we'll be able to impact our communities in a powerful and dynamic way.
