Who We Are Who is Unite?Unite! is a network of churches led by pastors and church leaders with the primary goal of being used of God to bring about transformation and the hope of Christ throughout the city of Atlanta through our unified acts of kindness, service, compassion, and love. Unite! is not a para-church, non-profit organization, but a network of churches from a wide variety of denominations, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, working together to serve the community through Word & Deed ministry. There is no financial cost or obligation to be a part of the Unite! network of churches. Unite! is unique because it is one of the only church mobilizing networks in the United States that is completely church led. Currently, there are sixteen churches providing leadership to the Unite! effort. Two separate leadership teams have formed in northeast and northwest Atlanta, and additional leadership teams are forming in other parts of the city. Click here for a copy of the Unite! Talking Points slides. What is Unite? The heart of Unite! is for churches to join together to serve our communities in such a way that God would transform our city for His glory. Unite! might best be thought of as a relational network among churches to better enable “The Church” of Atlanta to combine efforts of prayer, serving, and celebration for maximum influence and impact throughout our city. ConnectingUnite! Regional Gatherings Unite! Churches which are geographically close to one another meet every four-to-six weeks to discuss regional initiatives and progress toward goals. Regional meetings currently take place in Alpharetta, Buckhead, Buford, Cumming, Downtown Atlanta, Duluth, Dunwoody, Fayetteville, Lawrenceville, Lilburn, Marietta, Norcross, Peachtree City, Roswell, Sugar Hill, Suwanee, and Villa Rica. Unite! Monthly LuncheonsThe Unite! Monthly Luncheon provides a great opportunity for interested churches to become introduced to Unite!, and for participating churches to network with each other. The luncheon also provides opportunities to learn about and potentially partner with other non-profit ministries serving particular areas of need throughout Atlanta. Monthly topics include: Serving Public Schools, Homelessness, Adoption and Fostering, Domestic Abuse, Compassion in Action Preparation, Child Sex Trafficking, Refugees and Immigrants, Addiction and Recovery, and more. Events What is Compassion in Action Weekend? The Compassion in Action Weekend occurs on the first weekend in October each year. This event is where churches throughout metro-Atlanta come together to plan service projects and build partnerships to serve the community and share the love of Jesus Christ with those in need. In the past more than one hundred churches have mobilized over 6,000 volunteers in nearly three hundred service projects throughout the city. The vision of Unite! Compassion in Action Weekend is to mobilize churches to serve the community as a united front, with a vision for ongoing community service throughout the year. CommitmentChurch involvement with Unite! can vary from low to high levels of commitment. All churches are encouraged to engage at whatever level is most comfortable to them, while always being challenged to grow more and more in their commitment to "the least of these" in our city and communities.
